Amy CallearAmy Callear, MPH, Study Coordinator

Amy Callear is a study coordinator with the Center, working primarily on the HIVE Study. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in the Biological Sciences and from University of Michigan with an MPH in Hospital & Molecular Epidemiology. 


Caroline ChangCaroline Chang, MS, Data Analyst

Caroline Cheng is a data analyst working for the Center on US Flu VE Network projects. She graduated with a BS in General Biology and an MS in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan. She enjoys singing, salsa dancing and ballet.


Drew EdwardsDrew Edwards, BA, Clinical Subjects Coordinator

Drew is a clinical subjects coordinator for the center, working on the MHome and LOCI studies. She graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Human Biology. She enjoys being able to converse with  participants and being a part of two studies which couldn't be more relevant and beneficial to the current state of public health.

Tino is a data analyst for the center focusing on data coding, research data management and analysis. He graduated from Université libre de Bruxelles with a Master's degree in Public Health (with focus on Politics, systems and promotion of health). He earned another Master's degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the same university. He enjoys working with the group/team.  


Donny Hearn, IIIDonny Hearn III, MPH, Project Coordinator

Donny is a Project Coordinator in the Center. He graduated with a BS in Evolutionary Biological Anthropology; he received an MPH from UM-SPH. He is adept at bringing the benefits of cutting-edge scientific research to community service and empowerment through project management. He enjoys collaborating with partners to advance health equitably.


Emileigh JohnsonEmileigh Johnson, BS, Center Lab

Emileigh is a Research Laboratory Specialist working on projects that detect immunity to circulating respiratory viruses and its relationship to vaccinations.  She graduated from the University of Michigan in Biology and Psychology as a Natural Science, and continued with masters work in Biology.  She then entered the workforce full-time in pharmaceutical research for several years before returning to contribute to Public Health.  She enjoys the quick pace and relevant impact of the projects here at the Center.


Casey JuntilaCasey Juntila, MS, Research Area Specialist Intermediate/Center Lab

Casey hails from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Molecular Genetics from Northern Michigan University in 2021. In addition to her research experience, she has clinical experience working as a certified Medical Laboratory Technician. Her favorite research topics include anything infectious disease or virology related. Outside the lab, she likes to go on hikes (yes, even in winter), draw/paint and spoil my two cats.


Anne KaniclidesAnne Kaniclides, Clinical Subjects Coordinator

Anne Kaniclides is a Clinical Subjects Coordinator working on HIVE, MFIVE and IVY projects. She graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in Baroque Music Performance, taught English as a second language for 7 years in Japan and then worked customer service for an airline for 19 years. During this time she became qualified as a medical assistant and started working with this research group. Anne enjoys the variety of tasks and the importance of the work that she helps with.


Armanda KimberlyArmanda Kimberly, Clinical Subjects Coordinator

Armanda Kimberly is a Clinical Subject Coordinator currently working on the Center’s  HIVE, MFIVE, and IVY projects. She is also currently attending college to pursue education in HealthCare. She has worked for ten years as a medical assistant, phlebotomist, and in medical administration. What she really enjoys about working on multiple Center projects is the interaction with participants, getting to see the accomplishments within each project, and working side by side with a great team.


Regina WandellRegina Lehmann-Wandell, BS, Clinical Research Coordinator Associate

Regina is a Clinical Research Coordinator Associate for the MFIVE study and provides participant screening and recruiting as well as specimen and data collection at multiple clinical sites. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science focusing on biology and chemistry. She has been working with SPH since 2019. She enjoys the participant interaction and learning experiences through epidemiological research.

Jocelyn Nitta

Jocelyn Nitta, Administrative Assitant Senior

Jocelyn Nitta is an Administrative Assistant Senior for the Center and provides support to Center faculty and staff. She received her BA in Biological Science with a triple major in German and Global Studies from Wayne State University. Outside of work, you can find her in a coffee shop reading, exploring the great outdoors hiking or camping, cooking and baking, or traveling!


Janay PattersonJanay Patterson, BS, Clinical Research Coordinator

Janay works on the MFIVE study. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BS in Psychology. In her free time she enjoys going out to eat, reading and watching sports.


Dolapo RajiDolapo Raji, MPH, MHI, Data Analyst

Dolapo is a data analyst for the center, in her role, she performs cleaning and analysis for meaningful interpretation and delivery of collected data. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Master's degree in Public Health, after which she proceeded to the University of Michigan to earn another Master's degree in Health Informatics. Seeing how data is collected from the smallest unit, aggregated, analyzed, interpreted, and used for the advancement of the public good is what she loves most about working for the center. Without a doubt, she enjoys the opportunity to work with great minds daily to probe and answer data analytical questions.


Matthew SmithMatthew Smith, MPH, Data Analyst

Matt is a data analyst for the Center focusing on preparing data for funders and collaborators. He graduated from Hope College with a BS in Biology and then earned an MPH from the University of Michigan in General Epidemiology in 2022. He enjoys working with such a diverse group of people and organizations in his role with the Center along with being part of a team impacting public health decisions.


Lara ThomasLara J. Thomas, MPH, Center Manager

Lara is the Center Manager for the Center and provides support to faculty and staff, manages Center finances, grant submission and ensuring that all is on track. She graduated from Albion College with a BA in English and a concentration in Women’s Studies. She received an MPH from UMSPH in Health Behavior and Health Education and has worked at SPH for 20 years managing projects and centers. She loves the challenge of starting new projects and in her current job enjoys the variety of puzzles to solve each day as a Center Manager. 


Rachel TrucsonRachel Truscon, MPH, Laboratory Manager

Rachel is the Lab Manager for the Center and focuses on keeping the lab components of all the studies running smoothly.  She graduated from Albion College with a BA double majoring in Biology and Anthropology & Sociology.  Rachel went on to study Hospital & Molecular Epidemiology, earning her MPH from Michigan's School of Public Health in 2000.  She enjoys cultivating an organized and dynamic lab environment where staff can work together and students can gain valuable learning experiences through bench science and research.


Weronika ValvanoWeronika Valvano, BA, Research Area Specialist Associate

Weronika was born in Poland and grew up in Northamptonshire, UK. She graduated with a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Queen Mary University of London. She has been working as a temp member of staff at the center and she’s excited to transition to a permanent role here! Outside of work, you can find her hiking, making pasta, working on embroidery, or entertaining her two dogs. 


Jackie WalkerJackie Walker, MPH, Clinical Research Coordinator 

Jackie is a recent Epidemiology MPH graduate from the University of Michigan, where she also received a Certificate in Social Epidemiology. She received her BS in Biology with a double major Sociology from Emory University. She enjoys solving problems and adapting to changing situations. Outside of work, Jackie is an avid rock climber and loves hiking with her dog.
