Dr. Jeff Kullgren practices both outpatient and inpatient general internal medicine at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Dr. Kullgren holds undergraduate and medical degrees from Michigan State University and a master of public health degree from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kullgren's research aims to develop innovative approaches to help patients and clinicians make decisions that will improve the value of health care. In this work, he uses survey and qualitative methods to identify opportunities for interventions to improve decision-making, and targets these opportunities with novel interventions that translate behavioral science insights.

Research Interests:
Dr. Kullgren's research interests include understanding and improving how patients' health insurance affects their health care decisions, consumer-directed health care and the effects of high-deductible health plans, translation of insights from behavioral economics and other behavioral sciences into scalable interventions to optimize health care decisions, and clinician and patient factors that drive overuse of health care.
